Each of us is searching for that one pearl of knowledge that will make our days go more easily and pleasantly. There is always a to-do list since we have so many different roles to play in life, including working, being girls, moms, friends, spouses, and just making our own unique contributions. Although there isn’t just one way to be productive, there are many work hacks and productivity hacks we may use in our daily lives to speed up our progress.
1. Make the Most of Your Commuting Time
There are strategies to maximize the time you spend between home and work, whether your commute entails going to the office or stopping by your preferred coffee shop for the day. How is this time going to benefit you? Is it a brief call to see how your parents are doing? Or five minutes spent relaxing while listening to a new podcast? Even though this period of time is brief, making the most of it is a rewarding way to begin and finish each day.
2. Eliminate Old Email
Clean it out, of course. I’m all in! Eliminate incomplete responses, stagnant drafts, and sale alerts that you failed to take advantage of. You will feel rejuvenated heading into the weekend if you commit even just 30 minutes on a Friday morning to filing, unsubscribing, and clearing your inbox of answers to both personal and professional emails.
3. Set Task Priorities
Prioritization may seem simple, but it isn’t always straightforward. Don’t just write a list of the things that need to get done and mark the “largest,” “hardest,” or even “easiest” as completed in order to truly prioritize. Instead, consider your day as a collection of pieces that must all fit together. What about causality? What has to be completed first in order to improve how the remainder of the day or week goes? This more holistic approach to prioritizing also aids in overcoming some of our reluctance to challenging activities.
4. Apply the Pomodoro Technique
This little tomato timer is well-liked by users because of its “work then break” strategy. It has been demonstrated that working in short bursts helps our minds stay alert and concentrated. Choose a quick job or work, set a timer, and then blatantly take built-in pauses to refuel and finish strong.
5. Ignore Email First Thing in the Morning
If this one makes you uncomfortable, give it a go for just one week and see how it affects your output. When we read an email, we have a natural tendency to want to answer and start working on things. When you dive headfirst into your inbox at the start of the day, your inbox takes control of your priority list rather than the other way around. Instead of starting your day with your priorities, think about setting an hour to check your emails a bit later in the morning.
6. Be aware of your work zones
A major productivity trick is to match the sort of work that has to be done with the location where you perform it. Do you like to crunch numbers at a formal desk or a kitchen table? Or perhaps you get your most creative ideas when you’re out for a stroll and can let your thoughts to clear. Knowing when and where you work best for each of your different responsibilities will help you maximize productivity and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
7. Incorporate Your “OOO” Message Strategically
Who said that your OOO autoresponder was only for holidays? Utilize this autoresponder in inventive ways and for focused initiatives. “This week, my early hours (9–12 a.m.) will be devoted to a unique project I’m working on. For the fastest response, please reach out to me after those hours. Push the limits by establishing your own.
8.Consider Your Day’s Scope the Night Before
Planning is different than scoping your day. When you mentally prepare yourself for the many waves of energy and effort you’ll require throughout the day, you’re scoping your day. Can you move a crucial call until the morning, when you’ll be more alert? Should you ask a buddy to assist pick up the kids from school if your meeting lasts longer than expected? You will have more alternatives for managing and rearranging the day if you can complete this evaluation the evening before a busy schedule.
9. Minimize Minor Distractions
Every single ping, buzz, and flicker keeps us from paying complete attention in the moment. Learn to recognize the cues that each day cause you to leave your comfort zone. Is it an immediate message that blinks? Set a time when no one should disturb you. Do you notice the hum of the workplace floor? Please wear headphones! When you come to a challenging part of a task, do you find yourself reaching for a “scroll”? when you don’t have enough motivation? or if you need a break because you’re exhausted? Knowing your “why” will go a long way toward assisting you in shifting your focus to being productive.
